is it possible to paint my handlebar grips on my bicycle?
i don’t want to waste money by buying new handlebar grips,i have left over paint from when i painted my bicycle,is it possible to use car body paint to paint the handlebar grips?
p.s acknowledge that i am 13 years and do not have enough money to buy new handlebar grips.D:
Sure you can paint the bars, just realize that you won’t get any padding from the paint. Also the longevity of the paint job would depend greatly on how you prepare the bars.
Most bars are chromed, painted, or aluminum (if a magnet doesn’t stick, it’s probably aluminum) which is very rust resistant. So painting many of these varieties would be more for looks.
A cheap option is to use a cloth tape you might have lying around. Hockey stick tape would work fine. I’ve also seen people use a cloth tape and shellac it. This gives a nice amber color and water resistance. Very classy. Left over urethane might do the trick too.
I’ve even seen left over packing twine and shellac used to good effect.
